Bar Stools With Flat Bases

Bar stools with flat bases have an exclusive look that reinforces their appeal, adding to the overall feel of luxury. Available on high end, upmarket stools such as the Riva and the Lush Real Leather Brushed stool, a flat base adds that extra touch of panache and reinforces the chic, contemporary ambience that such stools are designed to exude.

All flat bases are fashioned in much the same way; a heavy cast iron plate is used to provide the main body of the base, keeping the weight and so the centre of gravity low for superb stability. The cast iron weight can often comprise of over 50% of the total weight of the stool, ensuring that it remains sturdy and rigid at all times. This weight is then encased in a durable steel outer skin to enhance the design, which is subsequently plated in chrome such as with the Deluxe Lattice or is hand worked into a brushed stainless steel finish such as with the Cello.

Whilst many companies sell stools with flat bases, these are most usually affixed to the column and gas lift mechanism by a singular, central bolt. Due to the rotation of the seat when people use the stool, the central column can become loose over time due to the movement, making the stool unstable. To stop this measures have been taken to prevent this by affixing the bases via 3 bolts. This ensures that the column remains securely fastened at all times, holding the seat rigid and providing you with added security and peace of mind.

Felt pads can be found underneath such bases, helping to protect your floors and keep them free from scratches. The soft felt allows you to place these stools on any type of surface with confidence, whether tiled, wooden, laminate or carpet, and help keep them in pristine condition.

There are various styles in which you can find these flat bases; there are squared bases such as that on the Encore bar stool, which also comes with a rectangular footrest that ties in with the whole design, as well as flat round bases such as those on the Lux bar stool or the Kone brushed steel stool, which has a matching circular footrest that is affixed to the base by three curving, slender bars that really catch the eye. As a different prospect we also have more unusual designs such as the Veer bar stool, which has a corner mounted fixed height column, rising diagonally from the edge of its square base. This allows you to create a striking style with four Veer stools around a table; their bases making a protracted large square on the floor for tremendous impact in any location.

Square bases give that all important differentiating factor, setting these stools apart from others as high end, luxury pieces, giving a style that transcends to their surrounding environment.
