The First Thing to Change in Your Garage
When you first purchase a home with a garage, you are given that window of opportunity to see what it is really made of. For, it is all too soon after that it turns into a refuge for unwanted household items, a pets room, the laundry area, or simply where all the unpacked boxes reside. Once you cross the line into the cluttered garage, there is little hope that many of us will reclaim the valuable space until we go to resell the house.
Knowing this, I recommend that you make an immediate change to the garage space, add some better lighting. It is rare that the lighting in a garage is of proper quality. Most people think it is the best place to skimp on lighting, but they could not be more wrong. Once you put that too dim, or too harsh lighting in then you start to have a feeling towards the area, and it is not a good one. This is because nobody wants to go into that inappropriately lit space, and right then and there is when it becomes a dumping ground of sorts. Change the lighting and you have taken the first step to making your garage a useable territory.
